The Unquiet Sky

Cloud iridescence in a Tucson, Arizona thunderstorm

The Unquiet Sky

I had come from the clouds
Like a black and wintry river,
Rain all day.
Magic within the dark air,
The impending shadow,
Stronger in the end than any evil,
Sooner than Hell overturn.
And yet I fear I may be overpowered
Like a disturbed ghost.
A dark cloud,
Lowering and compelling black,
Tossed upon the wind and so overcome,
Restored the sunshine,
The unearthly light overhead,
And brought with it my parting.

I created this poem from the combined sentence fragments of spam emails, many of which have used text from old, classic, public domain books. For some reason, I find the weird, random sentence fragments found in spam (meant to trick email filters) oddly creatively inspiring. The above sky photo is of short-lived cloud iridescence in the midst of monsoon thunderstorms here in Tucson.
