Paloverdes are now blooming here in Tucson, and the most common of these green-barked, desert trees is the Yellow or Foothill Paloverde (Parkinsonia microphylla).
Foothill Paloverdes bloom so heavily and are so abundant on hillsides here that they paint the Tucson foothills a buttery yellow when they are flowering. Blue Paloverde (Parkinsonia florida) with its more brilliant yellow flowers is usually found growing in desert washes. The naturalized Mexican Paloverde (Parkinsonia aculeata) is commonly found growing wild in desert washes or along roadsides.
