{"id":315,"date":"2005-11-25T11:23:00","date_gmt":"2005-11-25T18:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/fire\/2005\/11\/25\/american-lady-butterfly\/"},"modified":"2008-04-15T21:22:11","modified_gmt":"2008-04-16T04:22:11","slug":"american-lady-butterfly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/firefly\/2005\/11\/25\/american-lady-butterfly\/","title":{"rendered":"American Lady Butterfly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.butterfliesandmoths.org\/species?l=1769&#038;chosen_state=04*Arizona\">American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis)<\/a> is a common butterfly found in the southern United States, Mexico, and Central America.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/images\/firefly\/2005\/November\/Vanessa-virginiensis.jpg\" alt=\"American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) butterfly\" title=\"American Lady (Vanessa virginiensis) butterfly\" width=\"350\" height=\"514\" class=\"post-photo\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The American Lady butterfly is very similar to the <a href=\"https:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/firefly\/2008\/03\/19\/west-coast-lady\/\">West Coast Lady (Vanessa annabella)<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/firefly\/2005\/11\/30\/painted-lady-butterfly\/\">Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui)<\/a>, but it can be identified by the presence of a small white spot on an orange area of the forewing. This white spot is visible on both sides of the forewings.
