{"id":112,"date":"2005-06-01T22:01:00","date_gmt":"2005-06-02T05:01:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/fire\/2005\/06\/01\/narrowleaf-four-oclock\/"},"modified":"2006-11-13T20:47:23","modified_gmt":"2006-11-14T03:47:23","slug":"narrowleaf-four-oclock","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/firefly\/2005\/06\/01\/narrowleaf-four-oclock\/","title":{"rendered":"Narrowleaf Four O&#8217;Clock"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fireflyforest.com\/flowers\/1638\/mirabilis-linearis-narrowleaf-four-oclock\/\">Narrowleaf Four O&#8217;Clock (Mirabilis linearis)<\/a> is a member of the Four O&#8217;Clock family (Nyctaginaceae), and it has extremely narrow leaves that are quite unlike those of the other family members found here in the Tucson area.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/fireflyforest.net\/images\/firefly\/2005\/June\/Mirabilis-linearis.jpg\" alt=\"Narrowleaf Four O'Clock (Mirabilis linearis)\" title=\"Narrowleaf Four O'Clock (Mirabilis linearis)\" width=\"400\" height=\"400\" class=\"post-photo\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I observed this pink-flowered wildflower above 4000 feet (1219 m) along the Catalina Highway, but Narrowleaf Four O&#8217;Clocks can also be found growing at a much lower elevation in Sabino Canyon.<\/p>\n<p>Sabino Canyon, because of its mountain runoff, shade, elevated humidity, and unique topography, allows many plants normally found at higher, cooler, wetter elevations to survive.
