Desert Marigold

Desert Marigolds (Baileya multiradiata) are very common here in Tucson, especially along roadsides. These bright yellow wildflowers can be seen blooming here every spring, although in fewer numbers after dry winters like the one of 2005/2006.

Desert Marigold (Baileya multiradiata)

Like other daisies in the Aster Family (Asteraceae), the flowers of Desert Marigolds are excellent for attracting butterflies. Every butterfly garden should have some type of daisy, and here in Tucson, our native Desert Marigolds are one of the easiest of the daisies to grow, and with regular water, they are also one of the longest blooming (February to October or even longer).
