I listen to a variety of music, but I most prefer music that is calm and peaceful. One of my latest favorites is Joanne Shenandoah.
Her clear and lovely voice is gentle yet strong, and her music, often sung in her native Iroquois tongue, is calming and beautiful. Two of my favorite songs are her delightfully simple Kahawi'tha and her elegiac Feather in the Wind.
Another musical artist that I enjoy listening to is Sheila Chandra.
Her voice is remarkable, which is fortunate because many of her exotic, ethereal songs have minimal to no musical accompaniment. One of her best known songs, Ever So Lonely/Eyes/Ocean, and her Abbess Hildegard are two of my favorites.
For something happy and mellow, I like to listen to the instrumental Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Masters.
I happened across this album when looking for some guitar music for my father, and I love the unique sound of this island music.
